How do you work?

Every client is different. That’s why we make it easy to work with us by offering four ways to meet your marketing needs and your budget. Affordable solutions give you the experienced copywriting, editing and marketing communications support you need without the expense of adding to your marketing staff.

When we begin a project, it's helpful to know as much as possible about your business or organization. We'll ask a lot of questions. We want to see everything you can offer to ensure that your final product is finely-tuned to your business goals and your audience.

Payment

Retainer

This is the best option for those who have a number of projects to complete at once or have ongoing needs for copywriting, editing or strategy work in an uninterrupted manner. Retainer arrangements are available in three-month, six-month or annual programs.

Project

Artisan estimates the majority of copywriting and editing work by the project. This works well when projects have clear parameters. Project rates include one first draft and up to two rounds of revisions based on the approach established at the outset of the project. Subsequent revisions are billed at an hourly rate. Revisions to strategy that require a dramatically different approach will also be billed at an hourly rate. Most copywriting projects have a standard turnaround of 2 weeks from start of project; longer projects have a standard turnaround of 4 weeks unless otherwise negotiated.

Marketing consulting packages

Artisan offers three affordable options for consulting packages, from 50-minute brainstorming calls to comprehensive audits and marketing planning services.

Hourly

The best choice for specific projects that do not have finite parameters, or for consulting services beyond the above packages.

Please note that we require 1/2 payment of the project fee upfront when working with new clients. If you choose to pay by check, the check must clear our bank prior to our starting work. If you prefer to pay by credit card through PayPal, we will begin work as soon as your payment is processed. As a courtesy to our longtime clients, we will continue to bill those accounts on a 30-day basis at project completion for small projects.

Need it fast?

  • We’ll take on a rush job if the schedule allows. Especially if we know you and enjoy working with you. But because this means shifting other work to accommodate your deadline, we reserve the right to charge an additional "rush fee" of 25% of total project cost for jobs with deadlines of one week or less.
  • Rush fees of 50% apply for jobs received on Thursday/Friday with Monday/Tuesday deadlines, if we are able to take them on.

Cancellation policies

  • If your project is cancelled for any reason, Artisan is entitled to payment for any documented work done to date on the project.
  • If we have not started work on your project, we will issue a refund of the project deposit.

Confidential projects

We love to talk about the work we’re doing and our great clients, but from time to time, some clients ask us to keep things under wraps, or not to post samples of the work. If this is a concern for your marketing or ghostwriting project, please let us know upfront.

Referrals

We thrive on variety and feel confident taking on a wide array of copywriting, editing, and marketing and message strategy projects. But we reserve the right to decline projects and clients that we feel are not the best match for our services or values. If we can’t help you, we’ll do our best to refer you to a more appropriate resource from our professional network.
